Ulaanbaatar

Throat singing (known locally as khöömei) is a traditional Mongolian vocal art in which a singer produces two or more distinct tones simultaneously — a low fundamental note and a high, flute-like overtone. Practiced for centuries by nomadic herders, especially in western Mongolia, it reflects a deep connection with nature, mimicking sounds like wind, water, and animal calls.
